I have found this burner for 83 euros here in italy and seems pretty interesting.
Any opinions?Any good?
I also want to know if is possible to (in the future) change the drive and keep the external case.Any ideas?Is it compatible with other burners?

Since 2166 supports Lightscribe I suppose that normally it will be a 4166 in external version. In that case the 4166 is a very good burner and the 86 euros is a good price.
As for putting other drives in its case I think there will be no problem, if it is for an HD then might be, not sure, but with a different burner probably not.

Just bought from a local store here a liteon 1673 external and goes pretty good.
The guy told me that can try it for 7 days and if i don't like it i can bring it back.
Should i keep it or bring it back and buy the LG for 75euros?He has the LG 2164 and not the 66.
An other question,do all drives have the same characteristics?I mean the distances of ide and power connector are the same?
Can i put a new drive in liteons case or must be only liteon?

I have use many external cases from Plextor, LiteOn, Freecom, LG etc, and I never had problems using a different drive with the enclosure. Normally you won't have any problems. If it is for hard drives, as also Antonio said, there might be, half of those I tried didn't support hard disk.

Minos can you describe me please how was the interior (contacts,chip) of liteons drive?Mine has no cables just a nest and you push in the drive.Can i push in there any other burner?Or only liteon?

Something else minos.Is it possible to have an image of LG's case interior?
Liteon's case is abit strange and i don't think that i can insert other drive than liteon.

the problem is that liteon's case has exactly the same dimensions with the drive.So other drives bigger or smaller can't be fitted in.

Thanks a lot minos.I need the LGz interior inorder to see if is easy to fit another drive.Because LGz front side is a bit tricky i think (the case has a proper eject button).
Ohhh and....the LGz burst rate PLZ.
Probably i'll change the drive with lgz 2164 or 66....Maybe.I have 6 days to try it ;)

Yes i agree.The only dif. seems to be the extra FW (prolific 3507) that 5160 uses.
