does anyone have the answer to this. I bought 2 sony dru 800a 16x dvd burners and they were super fast for a while, now they have slowed to a crawl. I heard sony put a bug in their dvd movies and if you play them or make a back up copy it corrupts your computer,is this true and how can i fix it.thanks for your help.

Do you have the latest firmware update for your drives?

You can use Nero CD-DVD Speed, insert the movie, and do a tranfer rate test. This way you'll see the reading graph, the starting speed, the maximum and the average.

So said they were fast before, where reading or writing?

Btw your Sony burners are OEM Liteon SOHW-1693S.

You read wrong.  There is nothing on the DVD that corrupts files on your computer.  Sony uses special copy protection to prevent copying, but this is as far as it goes (they went beyond that on CD's though), but for DVD's you'll just need AnyDVD and DVDShrink....

... or if you are looking for a free option, try DVDFab Decrypter.
