I have disks that contain both audio and data from a guitar magazine. On a computer the disk should come up as the data session. On a regular cd player the audio only portion plays. Unfortunately, the disk comes up as only audio on my XP machine on either of the two drives (Lite-on dvd multi / Aopen dvd rom/cdr). The disk reads fine on my Win 2000 notebook and on a Win 98 se machine.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Or can you suggest something to try to fix this problem?

Do you have any software for video in notebook which you don't have in PC?

The notebook (windows 2000) doesn't have much other than Microsoft Office installed. The desktop computer (windows XP) has loads of software including a number of Adobe applications for both video and image editing. It also has Nero 6 for burning disks.

Try to get Media Player 10 to see if it help you.

See if IsoBuster can access the session for you.

I've got the latest version of Media Player, but I'm not sure what difference that would make. I've tried Isobuster and it can't access the data session. Are there any other similar tools I could try? 

Interestingly, one of my drives was able to access the data session on one of the cds upon booting (Explorer could see the contents, but Isobuster couldn't), but it seems to have real problems refreshing itself when another disk is swapped in the drive. It also will not read the data session later after swapping disks and inserting the original disk.

Very odd. I would think that it is something in the OS.

The promotion CDs comes with magazines are the lowest quality disc I ever saw.

Anyway since it is readable on your notebook then this is not the issue.

It seems that you are lucky and both of your drives might not support it in their firmware. Try a more recent fimrware to see if it helps.
