Ask Nero for a LAME PowerPack Plug-In serial number.  It's free for registered users.  Perhaps that is the difference, though I usually encode my MP3's outside of Nero.

Just wanted to pop in my own experiences with Nero 7 as well.  I too have been experiencing the skipping issue and I quickly learned that it is not an isolated incident.  I acknowledge that it is probably some sort of voodoo driver issue that plagues only the people with that magic combination of hardware/software necessary for creating the problem.  The fact of the matter is, simply changing the mp3PRO.dll file to an older version fixes the problem with no other observed side-effects thus far.  I have scrubbed the net looking for other potential causes to the problem such as ASPI issues (where in the past I have had problems with in Nero), firmware updates, and driver updates.  The only solution that worked was the dll swap.

I consider the minor procedure to be rather benign since that dll is only used while running Nero or burning a disc from MP3 (haven't confirmed which yet).  The dll is not loaded into memory otherwise.  Doing the swap while backing up the old dll becomes a very attractive solution enabling people to effectively use Nero 7 for what the function they bought it for until Ahead gets around to fixing it with a patch.  Then we can move on to the remaining bugs that hopefully no one cares about or is affected by.

As a side note: for those of you who have successfully transplanted the dll , have you noticed any differences in the sound quality between dll versions?  I think I hear differences between very early versions (2.0.0.3) and more recent ones.  Then again, maybe my brain is just toying with me.

MSI RX800 XT PLatinum Edition
Pioneer 109 DVD┬▒RW

Having similar problems with audio, burn to cd and written an image to hd and same fault. Tried Stomp RecordNow Max and burnt fine.
Wife burnt a cd on her system which is nowhere near the above spec but more than adequate and exceeds all requirements of the software and skipping occurs on burnt audio discs.  Tested again on a Dual Athlon 2800MP system 512MB ATi 9800XT and again same problem.  Never occured with any previous version of nero.  Personally I am not too fussed as i rarely burn audio cds anyway but thought I'd add my tuppence worth ;)

kindest regards all

hi i had the same issue in regards to the skipping, i initially assumed it was an issue with a duplicator i had just purchased, but after reading threads i will try some things that were suggested.  Nero 7.0.1.4  was released a few days ago and i will install that one 1st to see if that solves the issue.

I too am haivng this problem with Nero 7.. Never had it before with any version of Nero 6. I've burned about 4 audio cds, and all of them do it. I've tried burning different speeds, even tried track at once instead of disc at once. It did the same thing. I joined this forum just so I could post this. My hardware is as follows -

Intel P4 3.06 HT @ 533 bus
Intel 875P chipset
1 GB dual channel DDR ram
Radeon 9700 Pro video card
Plextor PX-708A DVD recorder, latest public firmware
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer sound card
120GB Western Digital HDD as master
80 GB Western Digital as Slave
JUST reinstalled XP Pro SP2 with all updates, had this problem both before and after the reinstall

I have had this exact same problem for months but it was only by chance last weekend that I happened to read about the mp3pro.dll fix. I downloaded a zip file called mp3PRO.dll_Pack.zip from another forum I think which contains mp3pro.dll, mp3pro_dmo.dll and mp3pro_hlp.dll. The mp3pro.dll version was 2.0.0.11 and works fine without skipping. So does the 2.0.0.10 which is contained in the file you posted. Version 2.0.5.0 and 2.0.5.1 released with Nero 7.0.1.2 and 7.0.1.4 respectively SKIP repeatedly even when played in the Nero playlist.

By the way, the track I am using to test this on is track 9 on Coldplay's X and Y album - Low. It ALWAYS skips at 5:14 with 2.0.5.0 and 2.0.5.1 (amongst other times too) but plays OK with the older versions. A CD written with the newer versions skips at 5:14 too.

So to summarise:

2.0.0.10 - OK
2.0.0.11 - OK
2.0.5.0 - SKIPS
2.0.5.1 - SKIPS

My system:

Athlon XP 2100+ 1.73 GHz
512 Mb RAM
VIA chipset
LG CD-RW GCE-8520B
Windows XP Home SP2
Nero 7.0.1.4

CiraJansonFan,

    Thanks for the post back!

Ok guys, if you need a fix, download and install the plugin link I posted above.  BTW, the plugin link I posted includes ALL types of file formats for Nero!

Okay, I've downloaded your pack, but it didn't fix the problem. I've also checked the versionnumber of mp3Pro.dll before and after installing the pack. It's 2.0.4.8, before AND after....

I'll install nero 6, and try again....

EDIT: I've unpacked nero 6.6.0.1.4 installation, and used it's 2.0.4.0 version of mp3pro.dll. This workd fine. If you want(and not illigal), I could post it....

I have had the same problem; upgraded to Nero 7 last week and have not gotten a good audio burn yet.  Every CD has a skip.  All previous burns with Nero 6.x were fine.  I googled the description of my problem and found this site.

I have a DELL 2.4GHz machine with the Intel Desktop MoBo with the D845GE chipset.  I too have mp3PRO.dll v.2.0.4.8 in my Plugin Folder.

I will try Nero 6's mp3PRO.dll.  If it doesn't work I will downgrade to Nero 6 and wait for Ahead to provide a fix.  I'll post my findings.

I have just downloaded Nero 7.0.1.4b , and updated my Nero 7.0.1.4 installation.  I can confirm that update doesn't resolve the issue of skipping audio CD's.  The mp3pro.dll file doesn't get updated at all and remained at version 2.0.5.1.

I have since downloaded mp3pro.dll version 2.0.4.7 from this link, and overwritten the original file located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins, and I can now burn audio CD's with no skipping.

M/Board: ECS 915X-A
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.80GHz
RAM: 1GB (Dual Channel)
OS: Windows XP Professional SP2
Optical: Lite-On DVD-RW SOHW-1673S

It should be noted that I had the same issue on another computer with different specs and optical drive, with Nero 7.0.1.4 installed.  I uninstalled Nero and installed CDBurnerXP Pro and burned audio discs with no problem.  But I caution against having Nero and CDBurnerXP Pro installed on the same machine, as I have previously had BSOD issues with the two pieces of software installed together.

This is a very perplexing problem, as I have version 2.0.5.1 and I have absolutely no problems with it at all.

How did you go about doing this?  Did you just email their tech or customer support?
