Thanks for the post, however, in the same light, please remember, that the drive manufacturers, test the media, and then they determine the "best write speed" by media....

I guess what I am trying to say, perhaps at first they thought this media was 4X, and after alot of testing they realized that the media was only really "certifable" at 2X, then the next upgrade made it 2X, while it is "okay" that you have written at 4X to this media, perhaps, you should examine the quality of this media....... they have perhaps tested it and realize that it is not okay at 4X.

mp3mogul, your explanation sounds logical, but I prefer to take the risk and have it burned at 4X, because I can't afford 2X. I trade a lot and burn up to 10 DVD-Rs per day, you can imagine how much time I waste with 2X

I definately understand, and the same goes for me, I have purchased media that says 4X but the firmware would only support 2X..... I simply end up using those for data backups...
