hrm, I don't actually know... but they were purchased around may-april 2003, so probably either 32x or 48x, but not 52x. I'd ask the guy, but I only "know him" slghtly on a webcomic forum. He mentioned he bought some Verbatim DataLifePlus CD-Rs that were giving him problems, whereas they normally worked fine for him. I don't remember what burner he had, but I remember it wasn't a LiteON, or LiteON re-brand (since that was the first thing I checked!). So I got him to download Nero CD Speed and give me tell me who made them. He told me that the discs were reported as CMC but I didn't believe him, so I asked for the ATIP itself, and confirmed that they indeed were CMC... so then I grilled him about the packaging, "does it say DataLife *plus*? or just DataLife?" and he came back quite confident that it said plus on the packaging. I imagine it is not a common thing, since CMC is only really used by larger manufacturers for when they can't meet their own demands. Still, it can be a bit scary!
