Hi all,

Everytime i start Nero buring rom 6.0.0.0 all i get is this message

"Your Windows version is outdated and Nero cannot be run. Please update your Windows version using the patches available from www.nero.com"

I had tried doing all this in vain
1) uninstalling NERO and cleaning my registry with the Nero clean tool and reinstalling

2) updating my Windows with all the latest service packs and patches

3) Using various registry cleaners and cleanup programs

4) Updated my ASPI to Adaptec 4.7.1

Is anyone experiencing this problem? hope someone can advise me thanks

My system is Acer P-III 1 Ghz, LG CD-RW CED-8080B, Win 98SE updated to Win ME, 256mb ram

Hi Temujin23 and Welcome to Our Forum !!!

Well the first thing I would suggest is to get rid of ASPI 4.71 and use the 4.60 Which is a lot more Stable you can do this by using My Aspi Fix you can get it from from :-

But make sure you follow the Instructions fully which are included in the Text file and see if that makes any difference !!!

I also suggest upgrading to Nero 6.0.0.11

thanks for the suggestions.. i tried the update before.. it does not work either.. will try your ASPI fix

I haven't seen any issues with Windows98 and Nero 6.0. I installed it on a Win98SE Machine to check, and had no problems at all.

You'll never get the help files to work though... I believe that the help files require Adobe Acrobat version 6.0 to work, and Acrobat 6 won't run on Win98 [xx(]

Well, I believe the problem actually stems from Acrobat 6 requiring IE 6.0 to be installed, and I don't think IE 6.0 will run on Win98... All these version 6 programs seem to stick together eh?

Internet Explorer WILL run on Windows 98 !!!

yes, internet explorer will run on Win98, but I don't think version 6.0 will. I don't run 98 anymore, not since I came across win2000 that is

but my friend still does (he thinks it is more stable then win2k...[:I]). The microsoft update page won't let him install IE 6.

Perhaps you should have thought of that before you said that it didn't work with Win 98 !!!

The microsoft update page won't let him install IE 6.

Just download IE6 setup.exe from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.asp

Nero 6 and Nero 5.5 needs the latest drivers loading for Microsoft to work properly on your system. Do you have this same issue when you try and install Nero 5.5.10.42?

If you have the Nero 5.5 installation CD, we have the latest Microsoft System drivers needed for Windows 98SE and ME on the CD, and we attempt to install these drivers when installing Nero 5.5. As long as the Registry is not protected to prevent such installation, this would resolve your issue. Then you could download our Nero 6 Demo and install if you prefer.

You can find the files on the Nero 5.5 CD located in the directory:
Redist\MS\System

There you will find the files
asycfilt.dll
comcat.dll
oleaut32.dll
olepro32.dll
stdole2.tlb

These are the files Nero needs updated from Microsoft for Windows 98SE and ME systems.
