There have been some reports of Verbatim DVD+R that is made by Ricoh and CMC. THis is 2,4x rated media.
About CMC there is a good change of truth in it since CMC allready makes DVD-R 1-2x for Verbatim. The Ricoh media is however a bit odd.
Note this was just based on other peoples claims.
So this can be a rumour.
All 4x media is still made by MCC at least at this moment. And since demand is still increasing I think it can be quite logical that Verbatim uses other manufacturers with overcapacity to make the lower speed dvd's.
