I want to hook up my cdrw drive, I already have a dvd rw drive hooked up , do I need a "y" connector to hook up to both drives and to the sound card?

Those cables exist, if you want them. But really, is it needed? Pick one of the drives to playback audio. DAE does not require the cable if that is what you are trying to achieve. If your sound board has an AUX input, you can connect the audio to that instead of splitting it.

If you're asking about audio playback from a DVD movie, the audio cable has nothing to do with it... so yes, you will hear the movie through your PC speakers.
