Hi,

I am having a confusing problem with my Samsung TS-H552U, it can't read any CD-R or CD-RW, but it has no problem with reading (or writing) any DVD. I allready tried to reinstall the drivers but nothing happened. Do you have an idea what might be wrong?

Yes, ROXIO drag to disc.  I am using a Compaq SR1180UK, it has 2 optical discs which both work perfectly.  The H552u is a USB/Firewire device and it does not write CD's with either the compaq or a Sony Laptop via firewire.  I am pretty sure that it all worked perfectly prior to firmware 07, certainly with 05 but of course I cannot say with certainty that that was the moment of failure, my main use at that time was DVDs..  It still will write DVDs but is less capable that it was with -R.

I had an optorite dd0405 that ran into the same problem. I tried updating the firmware, nothing, but my other drives worked fine. I've got a couple lite-on 169S's that couldn't really handle dvd's anymore, but cds would work fine. I think some drives just break down. My Samsung is kinda wearin' out too, but it happens.

Took out drag to disk on the Laptop, made no difference.
