hey guys i got the Lite-on dvd sohd-167T dvd rom drive and i'm having problems rippin dvd's. I have upgraded the firmware and using the fastest 14x firmware, tried 12 x atired 16 x having same problems. When i start the dvd ripping using dvd decrypter, the drive makes alot of weird noises and goes on and off. It will speed up for about 4 seconds then just stop, for couple seconds then start go fast for 4 seconds again. the ripping speed never passes 3.8x when the drive should really be going aroudn 14 x. its not even goin at 3.8 x on average its going aroudn 1.2x which is slower than my dvdrw drive. Is there any fixes to this? What should i do

I had the same problem. For some reason the liteon doesn't allow 12x speed reading for dual layer media. I had to flash it to 16x16x10. Then it worked fine.

You can go here and download the 2nd one listed under 167T and it will resolve your ripping speed. I hope this helps.

are you sure DMA is enabled?

I tried the 12X as well as the 14X from codeguys and both worked OK. It sounds like my recent DMA problem. It also reminds me of what I got when I tried the drive in an external enclosure.
