My Nero software was working fine on my old computer. I reinstalled it on a new computer. I am trying to burn a CD. Everytime I try to burn it, I keep getting asked where I want to save the image to. I dont want to save an image, I just want to burn a CD. If I hit cancel, it aborts the process. Please help.

Click on the RECORDER box in nero, and select your CDRW.

Thanks very much for the reply. I tried that and I just get someting that says Image Recorder.....When I click on My Computer, my CD Recorder does show up, but it doesn't seem to show up with Nero...?

maybe your version of nero is OEM and does not support another brand of writer. or maybe it is too old and does not support the new writer (assuming the other computer has a newer writer).

you can try installing the latest version to see what happens:

CGM, as Rabbit was trying to explain to you:

You state your version of Nero that you have came bundled, and that it worked fine on your "old" computer, yes this may be true, but did you remove the CDRW from that computer and install it into the new computer? The reason this was asked because, that version of Nero would be a "limited version" that would only work with the CDRW writer that came with it. This would mean otherwise, you would need to purchase Nero.

No, the CD recorder was purchased and added to this computer, I did not switch the device. And this is a legitimate paid for version of Nero.

Yes, make sure you have the "latest" version of Nero. Also, if this does not solve the situation, contact the drive manufacturer, and nero to see if they can help. Bundled software from Nero is specific for that "particular" drive, and will "not" work with "any" other drive. You should be able to update this to the "latest" release of Nero.

Above you said that it was a "bundled" version of Nero. Then later you state it was a "legitimate purchased copy" of Nero? Which is it? They are two different things.

What we are trying to say, is that if the version of Nero that you have came with say a "yamaha" drive, it will ONLY WORK WITH A YAMAHA DRIVE, and nothing else.

If this is not the case, contact customer support.

But the new computer I am using (Compaq) did have a working copy of Nero on it...NOw Nero doesn't recognize the CD burner.

And I have Easy CD creator, and I don't even seen an option to choose a CD burner......any thoughts?

Yes the computer "had" a legitimate copy of Nero on it. This is what you're not understanding. The PC came with it, then you "switched" drives, NERO will not recognize that drive because of it. It would only recognize the drive that came in the PC. If you like the Nero program, head over to:

You can "PURCHASE" a copy of Nero there that will work with the drive that you have installed.

I really appreciate this help and hate to make you frustrated with my lack of being able to get the concept. Which "drive" are you talking about? Maybe I am not making myself clear? Yes, Nero was bought and the hardware added to this computer. Yes, Nero did work on this computer at one time and it was possible to make a CD using the Nero software. Now the PC does not recognize the hardware.

Why would you reinstall Nero on a computer that CAME WITH IT? The drive stopped being recognized by Nero WHEN? Why did you copy Nero from an old computer? You state above that the Nero you have is a BUNDLED version, this is NOT THE SAME as a PURCHASED copy of Nero, they are NOT THE SAME. If you Purchased Nero you would have a SERIAL NUMBER.

Boot up Nero, when it's loaded click the HELP button, then scroll down to the last entry ABOUT NERO, click this and under Version, tell me what it says.

I really apologize for the confusion and for not reviewing my notes more carefully. I know you've been trying to help and it doesn't help when I am not making myself clear.

I bought this computer used from a friend, who had just bought a CD burner for this computer. When he sold the computer to me, he erased everthing. I believe he was using Easy CD Creater. But I have tried using Easy CD Creater and am still unable to get it to recognize the CD burner, even though the CD burner shows up under My Computer.

I installed the Nero software that I bought on this computer, but it doesn't work, same as with Easy CD Creator.
