Rapid growth continues...

The People's Daily, citing official figures, said 90 million Chinese were using the Internet by the end of last year.

Quoting a survey from the China Internet Network Information Centre (CNNIC), it said that most people go on the Internet for information, while online shopping comes way down on the list of reasons for online use.

But, it adds, more of the people who go online are spending more time online, saying that going online is part of a life style push for young professionals in the big conurbations.
