Hello to all,

First off I'm a newbie when it comes to DVD burning so I may sound like an idiot but I'll do my best.

I bought a NEC ND-3520A 16x DVD burner from newegg. The burner came yesterday bare. (No software/drivers/etc.. although in doing some reading online I've seen similar instances where this has occured and the drive will still work fine.) I stuck it into my Windows XP SP1 machine and it recognizes it just fine as an NEC 3520A burner.

The problem I'm having is that I cannot get any software to recognize it. I've tried using Nero 6.0.0.9, Nero 6.3.0.3, Adaptec CD-DVD Creator 5 and NTI CD-DVD Maker 5.. none of these programs will recognize the burner. I've also flashed the drive with the latest firmware just to make sure it is up to date at this link:

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what's going on? I am leaning towards a software issue since Windows XP is picking up my drive perfectly fine but can't figure it out. Maybe I'm not using the right software? Any information/help would be greatly appreciated!

Try a newer Nero version such as 6.6.0.3.

Thanks Iggy for the help.

I wasn't able to get Nero to work.. however I was able to get Roxio 6.0 to see it and operate just fine. Just didn't have new enough software apparently.. thank you again!

Might want to try 1.25, its newer than 1.04
