I just received a box of T.Y. DVD-Rs and tested the first 4 with plextool Q-check FE/TE test and all four have failed and it says they should not be recorded at the highest recomended speed. Any Ideas why? The test takes 5:19sec. and the CPU temp. goes from 43 to 56 deg. in about a minute and a half. Is this normal?

The TY are certified good media. Somethings probably wrong with the Q-check.

When Plextool indicates that the media should not be recorded at the highest speed, is it refering to the speed rating of the media or the players capability. The media is 8X but the player is 16X. which is it refering to?

Probably it says to avoid the 16X and burn it at 8X.

WOW That's a LONG test. I test media for write speed with Plextools and it takes less than 1 minute per disc. I have Fuji 8X (TY Media) and they write superbly at 16X. Actually they write with less PI/P0 at 16X than they do at 8X.

Plextool identifies the media as TYG02. Is there any other way to tell?
