Jari -> Should I choose DVD+R: Arita [RICOHJPNR01], RiDATA or Datasafe [RITEK R02]? (10/25/2004 9:49:12 PM)

Hello!

I'm going to order some DVD+R discs from Nierle.

Which DVD+R discs I should choose?

-DVD+R 4,7 GB 4x (burns at 8x!) Speed Ricoh -Arita Spindle 25-pack [RICOHJPNR01]
www.nierle4.com/s01.php?sid=PG001002165313696142812696142812&shopid=s01&cur=eur&sp=en&ag=1&os=1&br=1&pp=aa&bnr=2206

-DVD+R 4,7 GB RIDATA-Ritek 4x Speed 25-pack [RITEK R02]
www.nierle4.com/s01.php?sid=PG001002165313696142812696142812&shopid=s01&cur=eur&sp=en&ag=1&os=1&br=1&pp=aa&bnr=2251

-DVD+R 4,7 GB Datasafe-Ritek 4x Speed 25-pack [RITEK R02]
www.nierle4.com/s01.php?sid=PG001002165313696142812696142812&shopid=s01&cur=eur&sp=en&ag=1&os=1&br=1&pp=aa&bnr=2254

I have read some where that Traxdata, RiDisc, RiData, and Datasafe would be Ritek's A-grade dye media and Arita would be Ritek's B-grade dye media. Is that true?

I'm going to make mostly some movie backups and burn those discs via NEC ND-3500A drive.

What about Maxell, Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim?

What is your burner?

Those are good brands, but too expensive. I'm going to burn discs via NEC ND-3500A.

The "RICOHJPN" code seems to be more highly regarded than the "RITEK" codes, at least in the realms of Liteon media tweaking.

I'd probaly rate the RiData (Ritek house brand) R02 above the Datasafe.

They also have Datawrite MCC 003 at a similar price. MCC 003 doesn't look bad in the review, with a smooth read and only an odd spike of errors - just depends if Datawrite MCC 003 is up to the same level.

Tha bad thing with the Riteks is that you never can be sure which quality you got.[:)]

Maxell DVD+R 4X by TY , in cakebox of 25 pcs., 2X25 = 45€ in your home in Helsinki...., probably the best of the best +R media for all burners.

This media burned today in a Lite-On 812S at 8X:

Afterwards I also noticed that there (Nierle) would also be cheap MCC discs.

Are those real MCC DVD+R discs or fake ones?
