First I have seen of it.... However would a Line In / Line Out on a sound card be just as good of a solution without taking up drive bay space?

It can be tricky to do a proper job using the line input method. It's by no means impossible, and you can even get a quite good audio rip if your playback equipment and master are good enough. The cables between devices can also hold things back if they aren't good quality.

thats a nice thing but too damn expensive, would only be worth it if you are a dj with tons of cassetes to backup.

I did every album (anyone remember those) I'm talking vinyl 33 1/3 RPM records!!!

Anyway I did them all... used a VERY GOOD Yamaha turntable, line in...... clean up just a bit of the pops from time, and presto, they are CD quality...... did over 100 records this way.....

I've also done cassettes, however there is a bit of noise in the cassettes that is tricky to take out, but they work great.... use a HQ Sound card, and good stereo equipment...

I used to have a Commodore Vic 20 and a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A that both had "cassette decks" [8D]

At that speed a DVD would probably take oh about a month to load [sm=matrix05-coolemoticons.gif]

Its nice but only not to have wires all over the place---but s/n is very poor. I get excellent no added noise results using my soundblaster live audio card with standard rca plugs with a quality stand alone cassette player ($150). I can hook the same connectors to the TV and get GREAT sound from the TV too---so looks like I'm going to have wires anyway.
