JOHN_CLERY -> AVI files on DVD players (7/15/2004 4:35:17 AM)

I have looked around the site to see if this question is answered elsewhere but I can't find it. I aplogise if it is a frequently asked question.

My digital camera is a Fujii and records videos as AVI files. It seems to be a long winded process to convert these to play on my DVD player. Are there any DVd stand alone players that can run these files.

John

yes, there are a lot of converters available all over the internet...
But the thing is that our friend is trying to find a player that supports this avi format, without any convertion of any kind... (if i got it right)

Experts===am I right that DVD Stand Alone Players mostly play only the mpeg 1 and 2 formats while a few will also play mpeg4 while only just a few will also play Divx.

and confusingly all of the above are "types" of avi files which is a very generic description.

Am I right that "generally" a computer can play all the avi file types and if not, a free player for same can be found on the internet===and the foregoing wihout conversion of any kind.

This has been difficult to learn---one step harder than the difference between music formats of CDA, wav, and mp3===now orbis, ac3, mp2 and so forth.
