I flashed this new FW and I am having great success so far. I can now burn at 8X DVD-R. Nero 6.3.0.2 is recognizing the full capabilites for DL. Emperor, will you have enough media to test this new FW for the 1.07 DLBS?

I have the impression that the posted firmware at the rpc1.org is still beta (as the one we have tested) and the major improvements are not any new DL functions, we have to ask Herrie to confirm it, anyway we will do our magic if nessecery, don't worry [;)]

Since, you are using LiteOn Drives to verify the DVD+R DLs, i wanted to contribute some lines of an article about DL which was published in the latest issue of the C't Magazine in Germany. They tested the new Philips DVDR885P and verified the outcome:

Hi Kita and welcome to our forum! What CT found, have been already confirmed from our test results, the mentioned drives can make perfect CD-DVD graphs but the reported error rate is just..enormous. Maybe we shouldn't expect much from DL scanning and more focus at the compatibility part...

From our side, we are doing our research and post the test results for all to read and comment.

I'm planning to buy the NEC 2500A drive because i'd like to flash it with this firmware and get the DL recording feature. Do you think it would be possible to record DVDVideo-Compatible disks with this drive, or there are too many errors? May I wait for more results...?

With the DL function you mean? We cannot be 100%, when DL media becomes mainly available, more users will test and report back [:)]

Add me to the club.. i have install my nec 2500a drive .. and used the 1.7 parch... tryed a CD-R and DVD+R and waiting for the DL [;)] well i wonder when those will be on the market [8|] ..... i don't have the led problem well all work fine

good results so far.. [:D] i have burn 5 dvds of data (a good hard drive clean up [:(]) and no problemsi have use ridata DVD+R 4.7 Gi at 8x. The reading like usual is slow than a normal dvd rom drive [8|]. I tryed a lite on 16x.. and it works fine. Keep up the good work [:)]

Hi emperor Iam spanish and mi ingles its regular. OK i tell you...

Exixtiong 2 firmwares for the REG.NEC DVD+R/-R 8X BULK One is 1.7 and the other change 2500 to 2510 its ok?

What is the best formware form the 2. I think (lokking for the top the post) the 1.7is more good. Is this Right? THANKS.

If i understood your english-spanish text well [:)], you are asking which one is the best firmware the 2510A or the 2500A v1.07v2 DLBS, i would say the 1.07v2 DLBS

Thanks. I tried desperatly to flash my 2500 -> 2510 back to a normal 2500 using various Windowsflashers, but none of them worked. But Herries Beta Firmware using the DOS flasher did the job. :)
