morkys -> Best optical drive for ripping CD's? My LG 4163B is mediocre. (11/25/2012 1:57:01 PM)

I just ripped my 300 CD collection into WAV files on a 500 GB partition on my PC's HDD using WMP. I noticed some CD's had noise on them that is not heard when played on a CD player. I did some research and found out that despite the fact that the drive supports C2 my LG4163B drive has mediocre error correction. Also, WMP didn't give me any obvious options for a more secure rip. I intend to use EAC or dbpoweramp or CDex. Which optical drive should I look for these days for the best CD ripping? thanks in advance for any info, :) P.S. While we're at it...What about the best ripping software? Is EAC still good enough these days or should I pony up for dbPoweramp? What about CDex?
