quoll -> XP folder/file behaviour (1/14/2009 9:27:07 PM)

Recently Windows XP started giving me this annoying problem. When I open a Folder and click on a folder/file within, each page stays open beneath the other one, so sometimes I end up with 6 or 7 folder pages all open, and I have to close each one individually rather than each previous folder closing upon opening a new one. I have been into 'Folder Options' and tried several permutations available there to no avail. I hope I have described this behaviour adequately and would appreciate any advice and help. Thanks in anticipation...quoll

I'm sure you covered the obvious from the General tab of Folder Options and have "Browse folders" set to "Open each folder in the same window"... Perhaps you might want to pick up a registry scanner/cleaner/correcter like ccleaner and/or IObit AdvancedSystem Care Free... Might be worth a shot.

SithTracy, thanks for your response, as I mentioned in my original post I've tried just about every permutation in 'Folder Options' without luck. I use PC Tools 'Registry Mechanic' regularly on my setup  but the annoyance still persists. I'm currently trawling XP forums/Microsoft Knowledge Base to try and find a solution.One thing I've discovered is that XP by default only will remember a max of 400 folder view options, and I know I have many more folders than that. Do appreciate your effort...quoll
