999parsley -> Verbatim DVD-r or+r media (3/29/2007 6:40:50 AM)

Just a noob question really. I have always stuck with good quality media and then I learnt how lots of the other brands are seconds and that can be false economy, sicne they are rejects with high failure rates.

I have always used dvd-r Verbatim before, is there any reason to use the dvd+r type?
I know this was a later burning type. Is it down to individual burners liking particular types more? I am after the most compatible type with standalone dvd players .

I cnat be bothered to switch from Verbatim as the time or effort wasted in having a coaster isnt worth it.

You're right... stick with Verbatim.  If compatibility is what you are looking for... and perhaps with older DVD set-top players, than DVD+R might fit the bill... that is if  your burner can support bitsetting/booktyping.  Basically it allows you to force the +R media to report as DVD-ROM instead of DVD+R media to the player giving you better compatibility.
