digdashdug -> Which CD-Rs for my Thermal One-Ink Disc Printer? (8/2/2006 8:43:20 PM)
Hello,
I just purchased a TEAC P11/KIT Thermal One-Ink Disc Printer. I looked at the other comparable lower-end Thermal Disc Printers on the market too. I read some very questionable reviews of both the Casio and the Primera models, so I decided to try this one which I was unable to find any user reviews for. If anyone has experience with this device, feedback would be appreciated.
But my question is this... I have found Standard Silver/Silver CD-R's and I've also found Thermal Silver/Silver CD-R's. The "thermal" versions are about $0.03 - $0.04 more per disc than the "standard" discs. From what I can understand, it's only the full-color (and much more expensive) thermal printers that need the special "thermal" top discs. I was just wondering if anyone could confirm that the standard (prodisc for example) Silver/Silver CD-R's will work well with my one-ink thermal printer?
Hope that makes at least some sense! Thanks for your time...

hi friend! Just one question, which discs TEAC reccomends for your printer? Have you asked them?

No, good idea... I'll start there.
Based on some online readings, I think I've narrowed it down to "Prodisc" (silver top / diamond bottom) CD-R's. Just not sure whether I should go with the standard - shiny top, or the "clear-coat top" (aka matte finish). I have ordered samples of both, so I will try them out and go from there.
thanks.
