Setting up the EVGA UV Plus+ UV16 could not be easier. First you'll want to plug your monitor into the display adapter. As the manual states, drop in the driver CD, install the driver when prompted, reboot. Once Windows comes back up you're ready to hook up the USB cable to your laptop/desktop. After an extremely brief "found hardware" your display may flash, and then will be visible on the newly attached monitor. On the two systems that I installed this on the monitor started in clone mode. A simple click on the system tray icon brings up options to change it to extended and even lets you choose which way you want to extended it...

EVGA offers a truly excellent overclocker with an unrivaled warranty and support, and in some ways it does offer things outside of the standard "feature-rich motherboards" that compete everywhere else. Not everyone needs six SATA, or cares about hippy power saving hoo-har. But given the lack of performance we can't get to "GRRRR brute force no BS mobo!!" because it's actually rather flaccid until you beat it with a stick.

This baby comes stacked with 2-way SLI, native 1333 FSB support, PCIe 2.0, LEDs, and onboard reset / power switches. It is geared towards the consumer who wants maximum performance without the bells and whistles that tends to drive up costs. If you drool over high end hardware but scoff at high end prices, this might be the motherboard you've been looking for. Wow, there is fast and then there is faster and then there's the fastest. The new EVGA GTX208 FTW Edition VGA card is the fastest single card solution we have ever had to grace our labs period; it's as fast as an entry level 9800GX2 and faster than dual 9800GTX's running in an SLI configuration. Usually with a release that comes so soon after a previous release you see just slight improvements in performance over its predecessor, but the GTX280 release brings over double the power of the 9800GTX. EVGA has also taken an already fast chipset and pumped up the volume by way of their FTW overclocked Edition, which just blazes a trail of pixel pumped framerates. And with EVGAs new overclocking tool called Precision you can push that little old GTX card just a wee-bit further lads.

The EVGA 8800GT 1GB AKIMBO is an interesting card in many respects. The performance is not up to the 9800GTX but it is close being that the two cards share the same video chip just with 16 SPs disabled. The main selling point of this card is the AKIMBO cooling solution as it kept the card noticeably cooler during operation, about 15-20C cooler according to NVIDIA's temperature monitoring software.

EVGA has quite a success on their hands in the form of this new 750i SLI FTW Edition as far as overclocking goes as this motherboard excels most others in this area. Offering exceptional BIOS options that are easy to manipulate is a key factor in the success of this product and every BIOS tweaker will be satisfied with the amount of headroom available on the FTW Edition. EVGA only used high quality parts and beyond spec solid state capacitors to achieve this accomplishment and it is the king of the 750i motherboards.

The 9800GTX is a fast card. Of that there is no doubt. Compared to a 9600GT single card or a HD3870 single card the 9800GTX has performance that is near double those cards. The problem becomes when looking at the price of a 9800GTX, you can buy 2 9600GTs. 2 9600GTs from XFX in SLI outperform a single 9800GTX in every benchmark, making the choice quite clear in my mind. For now, a faster 8800GTX with 512MB just doesn't seem like much of an upgrade for the high end enthusiast wanting the fastest performance bar none.

EVGA's e-GeForce 9600 GT SSC comes at increased clocks compared to the NVIDIA reference design. Also the cooler has been adjusted slightly to match the company's color theme and design. With a price premium of just $10 over the reference card it can can deliver in both performance per Dollar and performance per Watt.

The new 790i motherboard brings NVIDIA up to speed on many of the features that have left them a bit dragging behind Intel for the last two quarters and makes a strong comeback on the new 790i. DDR3 was one of the most lacking features in the 780i series and is addressed well in the 790i as it can handle up to 2000MHz EPP DDR3 memory without a hitch. This and PCIe 2.0 are the main new features to be seen here and they both bring a bit more performance to the table when combined with the right system parts that enable these features to shine.The new 9800GX2 is a great card for anyone who has a 24" or bigger monitor as the card really begins to rock in resolutions of 1920X1200 or larger. In these instances this card is the fastest single slot solution there is on the market currently and cannot be touched by ATI's 3870X2 card. These are both hot products for the enthusisat and gaming crowd!

NVIDIA's new 9600GT card is targeted at the $199 and below price point and EVGA says this card should come in at $200-220. At this level of performance and pricing, the 9600GT competes against ATI's HD3850 card and almost competes against the 8800GT as that card is available online for $240 from Newegg. The 9600GT outperforms the HD3850 card from Diamond and the HD3870 card from ATI, making it an interesting choice but does not outperform the 8800GT in most cases. It has been over a year and a half since NVIDIA has launched a high-end video card in the form of the 8800GTX, with rumors of a 9800GX2 card coming hopefully it will bring high performance back into the mainstream for a good price. For now, the 9600GT is a great replacement for the 8600GT offering higher performance and a similar price point but not a great replacement for the 8800GT which is within striking range at this price point.

Even though the EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GS comes with just 96 shaders and 12 ROPs it can easily compete with AMD HD3850 and HD3870. The card offers great price/performance and is very very quiet. With up to 30% overclocking this card is every overclocker's dream being able to surpass the much more expensive 8800 GT when overclocked.

NVIDIA's new motherboard chipset builds upon the successful 680i SLI chipset from last year. The competition from Intel in the motherboard market is about to get very heated with the release of the Skulltrail platform for the high-end enthusiast and the X48, P35 and X38 chipsets offering higher performance with almost the same feature set (sans SLI). The 780i SLI adds support for the new PCI express 2.0 specification via bridge chip and the 45nanometer Intel CPUs to NVIDIA motherboard chipsets.

As its name implies, EVGA nForce 780i SLI motherboard is based on the latest high-end chipset from nVidia for the Intel platform. What is new on nForce 780i is its support for the new 3-way SLI mode, which allows three GeForce 8800 GTX's or three GeForce 8800 Ultras to be connected together. Two of its three PCI Express x16 slots are PCI Express 2.0 and this motherboard has also two Firewire ports, optical SPDIF output and more. Even though this motherboard is being marketed by EVGA it is in fact manufactured by nVidia ("Designed by nVidia" program which was introduced with nForce 680i chipset), so this board is identical to the nForce 780i motherboard from XFX. Other motherboard manufacturers like ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte and ECS haven't released nForce 780i products yet, so we can't comment if they are going to just resell this motherboard manufactured by nVidia or if they will design their own products.
