When we looked at the 9800 GTX+ for the first time the other week, the ASUS TOP version did impress us to a degree. As mentioned in our review, the 9800 GTX+ is pretty much an overclocked 9800 GTX, while an overclocked 9800 GTX+ is just an extremely overclocked 9800 GTX. While XFX has overclocked the card, there doesn't seem to be any extra naming for the card like we've seen in the past. For example, the 9800 GTX+ XXX Edition or something similar. Today we'll check out what XFX has done with the card and see if it can stand out from the pack like the ASUS one we looked at just the other week. But before we get into the performance side of things, let's take the time to have a quick look at the box and what's inside.

With all the recent fuss over ATI's 4870 X2 card, it's no wonder the green camp are bristling a little. However, all is not lost if you are an nVidia fan boy, they do have one hell of a hefty card that's supposed to be hot on the heels of ATI's top dog. Perhaps with some overclocking we could coax enough performance out of it to take back the crown? Today I'm testing out XFX's GTX 280 card, and it's a monster.

The XFX 9600GT XXX Alpha Dog Edition provides a solid performance/price card that easily fits into most gamer gamer budgets. Given it's minimal power requirements and single-slot cooler, the 9600GT would be at home in the meekest OEM computer or a mid-range custom gaming computer. The XFX 9600GT XXX Alpha Dog Edition is definitely not the fastest option available on the market but it is one of the better buys when you are trying to get the best bang for your buck. If you are gaming at 1280x1024 I would highly recommend the 9600GT as a solid purchase that will hold strong for another 12 months with medium to high quality settings in current and upcoming titles...

The integrated graphics market is an interesting one to say the least. With the release of the HD3200 graphics on AMD's 780G platform and the release of the 8300/8200 from NVIDIA there are two good choices to integrated graphics on the AMD side of the platform while on the Intel side of the market there's only one, as Intel's integrated graphics just doesn't cut the mustard. The 8200 is not for the hardcore enthusiast wanting to play the latest games with AA and AF on. Instead it is for the HTPC enthusiast wanting an inexpensive motherboard with onboard graphics to play their Blu-Ray Discs on their HDMI HDTV, light gaming and everyday use. XFX's solution offers everything you need to run a HTPC with HDMI connection, good High Definition Audio and the small form factor size, the 8200 from XFX gets the job done.

Every hardware enthusiast should know the name XFX as they are synonymous with the fastest performing Nvidia products on the market. Whether you are shopping for the ultimate graphics card or the highest specification motherboard it is hard to go wrong with the XFX branded versions. High end is not their only area of expertise however and recently XFX offered us the opportunity to review a number of their value segment motherboards with onboard graphics, they told us that their products were capable of taking on the best AMD and Intel had to offer. This is quite a claim so after tracking down some impressive AM2/Socket 775 boards we put XFX to their word.

The GTX260 from XFX is an interesting beast in that it is highly overclocked from the standard reference GTX260 that many companies are selling. In some cases the card comes close in performance to the GTX280 in CPU limited situations like COD4 but offering high performance in every other situation. The XFX GTX260 XXX Edition comes with Call of Duty 4, making it an excellent buy for those wanting good performance as it outperforms the HD4870 card from ATI nearly across the board.

Today's adventure takes us back once again to NVIDIA, which seems to be getting a lot of press lately. The introduction of the GTX200 Series GPU has brought NVIDIA new fame with impressive scores. And with the option of SLI, NVIDIA has another ace up its sleeve; the only chipsets to support it. Today we have the 790i SLI trio in the form of the ZOTAC 790i SLI, MSI P7N2 Diamond and of course the XFX 790i. Both ZOTAC and XFX are reference clones, where MSI has made some changes with pleasing results.

I?m looking forward to seeing how the GTX 260 fairs in this extremely competitive graphics card market, and hopefully its cheaper price tag can win us over. The graphics card market has never been this hot before, and while AMD are fighting the good fight to take the market share crown back, NVIDIA is battling them off with sticks at the moment. While looking at how the GTX 260 XXX goes against the GTX 280 XXX, we will see how it also compares against the 9800 GTX and 9800 GX2 to see if the price drop affects performance much.
