"Almost everything I have in my video library played with the WD TV Live HD. Ripped and downloaded music and playlists (with album art), pictures from my digital camera stored on USB adaptors and my home network, High Def and Low Def movie rips. The media server even allowed you to toggle between audio tracks that were present in your media file. This thing is amazing! Not every 1080p file played as smooth as the trailers we talked about above, but those were rare occurrences. For instance, when I pointed the WD TV Live to a Blu-ray rip of..."

"On September 1st, 2009, Western Digital announced two new 2 TB hard drives that belong in the Caviar Black and RE4 series, which are 3.5" hard drives that feature four 500 GB platters. The WD Caviar Black 2 TB (model WD2001FASS) and WD RE4 2 TB (model WD2003FYYS) hard drives feature 7200 RPM spin speed, 64 MB cache, dual stage actuator technology, SATA 3 gigabits per second (GB/s) interface, and an integrated dual processor to deliver ultimate performance in a maximum-capacity drive. WD's RE4 2 TB drive is designed for enterprise-class applications, so we won't be looking at that one today. We will be looking at the brand new WD Caviar Black 2 TB (model WD2001FASS) hard drive and will be comparing it to the WD Caviar Green 2 TB (model WD20EADS) hard drive."

Have you been paying $5 a month to record the shows you want with that flimsy DVR? Wish you could get a real Home Theater PC, but are reluctant to dish out the money? Western Digital knows your pain, and aims to fix it with the Western Digital TV HD Media Player. Will this be the ultimate HTPC replacement or just another attempt at a re-branded TiVo? The Seagate Momentus 7200.2 200GB hard drive was able to reach 48MBps on both the read and write tests, but the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB hard drive was able to reach 84MBps on the same test. With a 75% faster transfer rate the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB hard drive is very impressive.

Western Digital is one of the big names in hard drives, and one of their latest releases puts a much stronger emphasis on the word big. Model number WD20EADS is a 3.5" SATA 3Gbps hard drive from their "eco-friendly" Caviar Green series that sports 32MB of cache memory and an industry leading 2TB of storage capacity.

There was once a 40 MB hard disk drive was considered state-of-the-art. Now, Western Digital gives us a hard disk drive of the same physical size, but with 50,000 times the capacity! We present - the 2 TB Western Digital Caviar Green hard disk drive!

Western Digital's Caviar Green series represents drives that are quieter and that use far less power than their high performance counterparts. The high capacity of these drives also makes them ideal for devices that get turned on all day long like Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices or home theatre PCs. Today, we?ll be looking at the largest (and greenest) hard drives currently on the market, the Western Digital Caviar Green 2.0TB (WD20EADS).

As hard drive sizes continue to balloon, we are constantly bombarded with the one and singular question that guides our choice when it comes to the storage in our systems: Do we want a hard drive that has incredibly fast performance, or incredibly cavernous storage space? Though you can almost get that with the many 640GB 2-platter models that dot the landscape, true performance comes with drives like the VelociRaptor or any of the solid state drives out there. Western Digital is hoping to break that trend with their "Black Edition" Caviar hard drives.

You could think of it as a DVD player without the optical DVD drive and a home theater PC without the full functionality of a computer. It really is just that - it doesn't come with any internal storage and sadly no Ethernet networking support, but it does include two hi-speed USB 2.0 ports, which allows you to hook up two external hard drives or USB flash drives which use a FAT32, NTFS or HFS+ (no journaling) file system.

Ten percent of all 3.5in hard drives sold today are in capacities of 1TB or greater, claims Mark Geenen, President of Trend Focus. For enthusiasts, that number would grow exponentially and with their low cost, rightly so. A few months ago Seagate launched their 1.5TB drive, but it has been plagued with firmware issues that are only now getting resolved. Just as with the graphics card world, hard drive manufacturers play the performance and capacity leapfrog game.

The Raptor is now a 2.5" drive although don't get your hopes up about equipping in into your notebook- its power requirements and height wont allow you to do that. While the 2.5" form factor is nice, it means that you\'ll probably end up buying the 5.25" IcePAK heatsink/cage for it separately which could be a bummer.

All of us have large digital libraries that are all but trapped on our computers. In order to play our content on our TV we have to struggle with clumsy solutions such as copying onto multiple CDs and DVDs or connecting our PCs to our TV via wires or complicated home networking solutions. The WD TV HD Media Player enables anyone to easily access their high-definition content on the biggest screen in the home in a matter of minutes. Using the WD TV HD Media Player couldn't be any simpler - plug in a storage device and the unit will automatically scan it for multimedia and automatically add the files to its library, which is split up into video, audio, and images. That's it! WD is onto a winner here, as long as you don't crave a fantastic selection of outputs (including Ethernet), 5.1 surround sound, and expandability with optional extras like Wi-Fi and a Freeview receiver.
