LiteON SOHW-1213S Dual DVD±RW Recorder - Page 2
Transfer Rate Reading Tests
- CD Format
The LiteOn SOHW-1213S supports up to 48X reading speed. Below are the transfer
the LiteOn is slightly faster compared with the Plextor drive
but the Plextor is
faster with rewritable media offering 40X reading speed.
- DVD Format
The SOHW-1213S was slower than the Plextor drive when using PTP single
layer DVD-ROM media.
The two layers of a PTP DVD-ROM disc are read sequentially with the drive
starting reading from the inner part of the disc, which is the beginning of
each layer, towards the outer range, for each layer. The SOHW-1213S times were
about 33% slower than the Plextor's times.
The first layer of an OTP dual layer DVD-ROM is read exactly the same way
as the first layer of the PTP disc we tested previously. The difference here
is the reading strategy of the second layer of the disc. The beginning of the
second layer is located in the outer part of the disc, so the drive starts
reading from the outer tracks toward the inner part of the disc. The average
reading speed is 6.01X.
With DVD+R media the SOHW-1213S is slightly faster compared
with the Plextor while with DVD-R/RW and DVD+RW media Plextor is faster about
3X transfer rate speed.
The LiteOn reached 7769 kb/s, a good ripping transfer rate.
