4x DVD+RW Roundup Vol.2 (AOpen DRW4410 & Ricoh MP5240A)

3. Data CD Reading Tests

Ricoh MP5240A Vs AOpen DRW4410 - Page 3

Data CD Reading Tests

- Pressed CD results (CD Speed Graphs for Ricoh MP5240A-DP and AOpen DRW4410)

Both drives support the 40x CAV maximum reading speed with CD-R/ROM discs. In the beginning of the task the reading speed was less than 18x, and the outer tracks were read at a speed higher than 41x. Ricoh MP5240A-DP read the disc at an average speed of 31.44x and the AOpen drive was slightly slower with 31.29x.

On the seek times test of the pressed disc the results of Ricoh and AOpen are almost the same in the Random and 1/3 seek modes. The full seek test gave the AOpen drive a slight lead with 190 msec.

- CDR Media results (CD Speed Graphs Ricoh MP5240A-DP and AOpen DRW4410)

Both drives read the CD-R data disc fast and their performance is not much different than in the previous test.

- RW media (Click to see the CD Speed Graphs Ricoh MP5240A-DP and AOpen DRW4410)

For this test we used a recorded HS-RW disc by Ricoh. Both drives read the disc at 40x CAV, and Ricoh MP5240A is a bit faster than AOpen DRW4410 with 31.35x average reading speed.
