RW reading tests
- Nero CD Speed v0.84b Test: (Click here
to see the CD Speed graph)
For the RW tests, we used TDK's HS-RW media. The AOpen CRW2440 has the highest
reading speed (31.66X) outperforming competition:
CloneCD Reading
Tests
- Procedure:
We used CloneCD (v3.0.9.1) and 5 original CDs - Euro 2000 (SafeDisc 1),
No One Lives For Ever (SafeDisc 2), Rally Masters (LaserLock 1), Desperados
(LaserLock 2) and V-Rally 2 Expert (SecuROM 2) - in order to test the reading
performance of AOpen CRW2440. We also tested the reading performance with backups
of the original CDs, since the reading speed varies between original and backup
media. For comparison reasons we added the results of the already tested LiteOn
LTR-24102B, PleXWriter PX-W2410A and TDK CyClone 241040. The following picture
shows the AOpen CRW2440 reading/writing capabilities:
- SafeDisc 1/2 Results:
The PleXWriter with the v1.01 firmware improves dramatically its performance
and is the best solution for reading SD1/2 protected CDs. However the AOpen
CRW2440 doesn't perform badly either and stays close to the top. LiteOn LTR-24102B
improves also its performance with firmware 5S07 but is 50% slower than Plextor
one.
Again with SafeDisc v2.0 protected CDs, the AOpen CRW2440 come
second. However the performance gap is now smaller.
LaserLock 1/2 Results:
In the LaserLock protected CDs test, the LiteOn LTR-24102B takes easily the
first place. The AOpen CRW2440 comes second, TDK CyClone 241040 third and as
for the PleXWriter...Still has the same behaviour as we posted in our hardware
review. Some people suggested using other software, CD Mate, for reading LaserLock
1/2 protected CDs so you could give it a try.
With LaserLock 2 LaserLock 2 protected CDs, LiteOn LTR-24102B hold the first
place and AOpen CRW2440 follows...
SecuROM Results:
The AOpen CRW2440 can read SubChannel data from Data/Audio tracks very fast!
Currently seems the faster drive for that proposes.
