Transfer Rate Reading Tests

- CD Format

The Memorex D² External supports up to 48X reading speed for CD-R media and 32X for CD-RW. Below are the transfer rate graphs, where we compare its performance against the other two drives:

The LG GSA-4160B offers 40X CD media reading speed. This explains the low reading speed when compared with the Memorex and LiteON drives that offer 48X reading speed. On the other hand, with US-RW media, the LG model was faster.

- DVD Format

With Single Layer media, similar speeds from all three drives were observed.

With DVD-R/+R media, the LG 16X recorder was again faster, while the LiteON and Memorex drives produced similar results, as expected.

The Memorex drive was the slowest when it comes to DVD Video ripping. However, speed differences are not significant.
