Media 100 HD details revealed

Media 100, recently acquired by Optibase, has revealed details about its long-awaited release of Media 100 HD, the latest version of its video editing system for Mac.

Media 100 HD was first announced over a year ago at NAB 2003, and following several delays the company now declares that it will be available this autumn. It features 8- and 10-bit uncompressed and compressed native HD and SD editing.

New features revealed include an extensible timeline featuring up to 99 video tracks, real-time RGB colour correction, a software codec with support for full motion alpha channels and an advanced RGB, YUV, HSL real-time keyer with softness and offset controls.

The company also claims that Media 100 HD Version 10 features several areas of the application that have been tuned for the advanced performance of the dual-processor Power Mac G5 platform, delivering greater real-time performance.

Complete Media 100 HD system configurations, including a Power Mac G5 workstation and high-speed media storage, are expected to start at around $12,000 (around £6,600). An upgrade program exists for current Media 100 customers interested in moving to Media 100 HD, the company claims.
