Sony launches online music distribution service in U.S.

Sony on Tuesday launched an Internet-based paid music distribution service in the United States, allowing computer users to download music for 99 cents a piece and $9.90 for an album.

Sony, which initially offers 500,000 music pieces for the service, said users can also transfer the downloaded music into the company's portable mini discs.
