Pioneer Taiwan: Global DVD recorder demand to jump 205% this year

Global demand for DVD recorders will soar by 205% from 4.42 million units in 2003 to 13.5 million units in 2004, according to Digitimes.

In Taiwan, demand will rise from 10,000 DVD recorders in 2003 to 40,000 units this year.

DVD recorders integrated with hard drive burning functions will become a mainstream product this year. The company plans to offer such models and aims to grab a 40-65% share of the Taiwan market.
