Maxell DVD-R ID code leaked by many Asian media manufacturers

Hitachi Maxell protested against many DVD-R media manufacturers of Hong Kong and Japan, for unfairly using the company’s recognition ID code in their own DVD-R media.

The manufacturer recognition code is recorded metallic mold of each disc during the disc manufacturing process. The recorders read this code, and recognize the disc in order to maintain high writing quality.

The company checked the quality of the specific media and revealed that it cannot be used for reliable reproduction and recording at 2x, as it was labeled on their package.

Hitachi Maxell is expected to take serious actions against the companies that seems to make an easy profit by using the Maxell trademark by providing low quality products.
