Copy protection issues are edited in a new free newspaper by StarForce

StarForce Technologies and StarForce Research Lab announce launching of a new media project. Starting from February, 2003, the company will be publishing a newspaper "Copy Protection Review", which will cover copy protection, software piracy and CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/CD-R production issues. Analysis and deep research of modern copying, emulating, cracking and anti-pirate technologies have motivated StarForce specialists to share our knowledge. The study of modern software industry and technology by the company’s marketing personnel became a basis for expert evaluations in this area. By launching “CPR “ we are aiming to provide everyone involved in software business with factual, analytical and statistical information about one of the most delicate matters in the industry.

The project serves as a realization of StarForce’s mission to fight piracy and support legal software environment. This new edition will discuss copy protection technologies development, advantages and weaknesses of current systems, software publishers’ preferences and experience with security tools. Together with StarForce’ research we will review world piracy news and anti-pirate activities undertaken by international organizations. Our readers will learn about copy protection by experience of others in interviews with software publishers and developers, overviews of the latest industrial events and trade shows. We hope to make “CPR “ a valuable source of information for a large audience: software developers and publishers, CD/DVD replicators and duplicators, journalists and organizations, StarForce clients, partners and colleagues.

We have worked hard to create interesting and useful columns for all kinds of our readers. Some of them will be permanent and updated monthly; new columns will emerge according to the relevance of information.

"Copy protection aspects": technology trends, users’ feedback and recommendations will be thoroughly discussed in each issue.

"Fresh cracks" will show a true picture of how fast software is hacked and content is stolen in a monthly updated table of the latest cracked and illegally released software in the world.

"In the person of" will render software anti-piracy contacts and organizations in all regions of the world.

In "Piracy vs. Anti-Piracy news" we will observe recent actions undertaken by software publishers, anti-piracy organizations, governments and digital content owners to stand their (copy)rights. We will also trace pirate attempts to illegally use and distribute software.

"Show time" column will provide a fair evaluation of industrial trade shows and conferences in which StarForce specialists participate.

We welcome any contribution to "Copy Protection Review". Your articles, news and opinions will be reviewed and used in our further publications.

"CPR" will be published and distributed in printed and electronic copies free of charge. To get a new printed or electronic copy of "CPR" every month, please, send your request to subscribe@star-force.com. Previous issues will be available in PDF format at http://www.star-force.com/review/.
