Epic Records gives music fans keys to unlock exclusive content using SONY's ConnecteD technology

Epic Records is offering fans exclusive access to their favorite artists and a wealth of bonus content with the release of their new CD's. Sony Music Entertainment's proprietary ConnecteD technology transforms a CD into a key that when placed in the computer's CD-Rom drive enables fans to unlock bonus sections at an artist's website that may include everything from exclusive audio and video; artist messages, Q&A and commentary; lyrics; behind-the-scenes video footage and more...

Because the technology functions independently of the CD and no additional software is required, content can be changed on the fly so the CD owner can continually access new material as it is added to the ConnecteD area of the site. Current releases from KoRn, Tori Amos, Incubus, Good Charlotte, Audioslave, MuDvAyNe, and more already are unlocking bonus content; as are brand new releases from Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Osbourne, B2K and others offering fans all sorts of sneak peeks and exclusives. A comprehensive look at all of Epic's ConnecteD offerings can be found at EpicRecords.com.

In June of this year, in conjunction with the launch of the KoRn's Untouchables CD, KoRn fans were able to use the new disc to unlock live footage at http://www.korn.com or the band's label site, http://www.korntv.com, from a special concert/webcast/simulcast the band had performed the night before the release of the album. For a limited time, users could access not only this content, but also get free membership to the band's subscription service, KoRn Kamp, with the CD in their CD-ROM drives and a connection to the KoRn sites.

Now Tori Amos is inviting fans into "Scarlet's Web" at ToriAmos.com (http://www.toriamos.com) with the release of her new Scarlet's Walk CD. Amos, who has always been deeply involved with her fans and her web presence, has played an integral role in conceiving and contributing to her ConnecteD content. Once inside Scarlet's Web, fans find three maps to help them navigate through a vast, exclusive, bonus world of photos, songs, lyrics, a track-by-track commentary and personal tour journal and tips from Tori, behind-the-scenes video, mini movies, stories, contests to win front-row concert tickets, and much more -- only accessible at ToriAmos.com when Scarlet's Walk is inserted into the CD-ROM drive. Because ConnecteD technology functions independently of the CD, the content can be changed on the fly. A special highlight of "Scarlet's Web" will be exclusive live tracks recorded along Tori's On Scarlet's Walk tour. These live songs from the road will be premiered exclusively for fans in "Scarlet's Web."

"I wanted people to be able to discover for themselves the Journey that Scarlet and I are taking," said Tori. "In Scarlet's Web you will be able to unlock the innermost details of this fantastic voyage, as well as a few special surprises along the way."

In an unprecedented cooperative between gaming, music and technology, Epic Records teamed up with Rockstar Games for the October 29 release of seven Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Soundtrack CD's in conjunction with the release of the most anticipated game of the year, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on PlayStation®2. The Soundtrack CD's offer gamers the keys to Vice City by allowing them to unlock seven unique cheat codes for the game -- one with each disc -- at Epic's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Soundtracks site (http://www.vicecityradio.com). Users can also access screensavers, wallpaper and more via Sony's proprietary ConnecteD technology.

R&B/Pop outfit, B2K's current Santa Hooked Me Up CD arrived in stores October 29 and offered fans a peek at the group's much-anticipated pandemonium! album that arrived in stores December 10. The Santa Hooked Me Up disc lets B2K fans access an exclusive audio message from B2K, as well as the first single from pandemonium!, "Bump Bump, Bump," and additional pandemonium! content, at http://www.b2klovesyou.com. The pandemonium! CD itself offers fans opportunities to see videos from B2K's video shoot & photo shoots, as well as in-studio "making of" pandemonium! footage.

The self-titled debut from supergroup, Audioslave, featuring former lead singer/guitarist of Soundgarden, Chris Cornell (Vocals), and Rage Against The Machine's Tim Commerford (Bass), Tom Morello (Guitar), and Brad Wilk (Drums) arrived in stores on November 19. Also on November 19, Math Metal Quartet, MuDvAyNe, released the follow-up to their gold-certified 2000 debut, L.D. 50. The End of All Things to Come CD in the Limited Edition CD/DVD package connects MuDvAyNe fans worldwide to all kinds of exclusive content from the band at http://www.mudvayne.com, including live-performance and behind-the-scenes footage via ConnecteD technology.

On November 26, a brand new release from Jennifer Lopez began connecting fans to exclusive bonus content at http://www.jenniferlopez.com. Lopez' This Is Me...Then features 12 brand new songs, and will also allows fans to view numerous new photos and behind-the-scenes video footage of Jennifer.
