Yamaha's CRW-F1 poised to replace the floppy disk with indrustry's first 24x re-write speed and Mt. Rainier support

The CRW-F1 is the first CD recorder ever to offer Ultra Speed 24X ReWritable capabilities. With full Mt. Rainer support, the CRW-F1 burns CD-RW discs at up to 24X thus reducing the time for your overall rewriting experience by 50% compared to the fastest CD-RW record speeds available today. Also new to the CD-RW Industry is Yamaha’s CD-RW Audio Track Edit system. With the introduction of this exclusive technology, there is no longer a need to erase an entire CD-RW disc to add or remove audio tracks, greatly increasing the overall ease-of-use of CD-RW media.

Mt. Rainier support adds true drag-and-drop CD rewriting and on-the-fly formatting to CD-RW creation in PC, Mac, and Linux operating systems including Microsoft Windows XPTM and Mac OS X, making CD-RW the ideal floppy disk replacement. There is no need to install separate CD-mastering software or a hardware driver; dragging and dropping data files to a CD-RW disc is now as easy and convenient as using a floppy disk drive.

“CD-RW technology has been around for many years, but because of the slow write speeds, it has never really received the attention it deserves,” states Allen H. Gharapetian, general manager, Yamaha Multimedia Products Division. “but with the introduction of the industry’s first 24X ReWritable CD recorder, the CRW-F1, the time needed for the burning process is cut in half. We believe the combination of this ultra high speed ReWriting and Mt. Rainier support makes the CD-RW disc the true replacement for the floppy disk.”

In order to improve the uses of CD-RW discs for audio recording, Yamaha is also introducing an exclusive feature called CD-RW Audio Track Edit system. This new feature allows the user to easily add and delete audio tracks from CD-RW media, without erasing the entire disc. Using this technology, a user can easily create an audio CD onto CD-RW media. Once the disc has been created, the audio compilation could easily be modified. To illustrate the point more clearly, imagine if there are 10 songs on a CD-RW that you burnt last week.

This week, you have decided that tracks 8 and 9 are no longer interesting. With Audio Track Edit System, all you would have to do in this case is erase track 10, 9 and 8 in that order while tracks 1 through 7 wouldn’t need to be erased as they would have in the past without the Audio Track Edit feature. To complete the process, you can add new songs to replace tracks 8 and 9 and then put track 10 back on, close the disc and pop it into your compact disc player. Alternatively, if you are satisfied with the 7 remaining songs, just close the disc and be on your way in no time at all. The time requirements, as well as the inherent inconveniences in writing and rewriting audio CD-RW discs, are greatly reduced thanks to the CRW-F1.

“Yamaha’s exclusive CD-RW Audio Track Edit system was the next logical step for expanding the uses of rewritable CD-RW discs in the audio industry,” states Gharapetian. “This technology increases the overall value of the CD-RW, providing the consumer with even more creative freedom in compiling, modifying and mastering audio discs with utmost convenience. In addition, the consumer can save time, aggravation and money by avoiding to burn multiple CD-R discs in order to create the perfect audio disc.”

The industry’s first 24X CD-RW with Yamaha’s exclusive Audio Track Edit system is the fifth installment; the remaining three releases will be posted every Monday and Thursday for the next two weeks. Each release will detail a different outstanding feature of the industry’s finest CD-R series and show why the CRW-F1 is The Ultimate CD Recorder.
