Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Launches in August

Samsung Electronics will officially anounce the Galaxy Note 8 phablet before the end of August and prior to September's IFA show in Berlin, ahead of the iPhone 8's projected September-October launch.

The South Korean company is said to hold a launch event in New York City for its next Galaxy Note smartphone in the second half of August.

The new device is expected to sport a 6.3-inch curved screen and feature two rear cameras along with top-notch features met in the Galaxy S8 model such as the voice assistant Bixby and an iris scanner. Dual cameras allow people to take both wide and regular angle shots. The Note 7 was equipped with a 5.7-inch curved screen and one rear camera.

Next month, Samsung also plans to release the refurbished Galaxy Note 7, a short-lived device released last year whose production was suspended after some devices caught fire while charging. The refurbished edition, which comes with a safe battery, is expected to have a price tag of around 700,000 won (US$615). It will be reportedly called Galaxy Note FE, which stands for "fandom edition." The refurbished phone is likely to come with a smaller battery as a safety precaution.

Strong initial response for the Galaxy S8 smartphones that began selling in April indicate the firm is recovering quickly, with some analysts forecasting the device to set Samsung's internal sales records and push the firm towards what is widely expected to be its best-ever profit for April-June.
