DVS announces 16X DVD-ROM

"...Digital Video Systems today announced that it has started delivering samples of its 16X DVD-ROM drive, DSR-1600H, to potential customers. The new drive automatically compensates for scratched or bent discs using proprietary error correction techniques, and is capable of reading all current DVD audio, video or computer data storage formats.

Dr. Sim added, "Our proprietary technologies reduce vibration and noise at high speeds while greatly improving anti-shock performance. Also, since our drive can be programmed to automatically analyze disc reading characteristics so that parameters can be automatically adjusted thereby retaining image clarity, audio clarity, or otherwise maximizing data transfer."

The model DSR-1600H drive will be sold for installation into new computer systems and re-sale as upgrade kits through retail channels. The new 16X DVD-ROM drive is designed to support all the major DVD and CD media. This Model also features 256 KB of buffer memory with EIDE/ATAPI interface, supporting both horizontal and vertical mounting capabilities. It is compatible with Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and Windows NT 4.0, as well as O/S 2 Warp, MS-DOS 3.0 or higher and Linux. This Model weighs 0.95 kg and measures 146 x 194.6 x 41.5 mm, including its bezel..."
