Iomega ships Predator CD-RW drive

"...Iomega announced Wednesday that it is now shipping its Predator CD-RW drive in the US at a retail price of US$269.95. The Iomega Predator CD-RW drive should be available on U.S. retail shelves in early January 2001, the company said. The external CD-RW drive will begin shipping in Asia, Europe, and Latin America in February 2001.

The Predator is an 8X4X32X CD-RW drive, but is currently shipping with a USB 1.1 adapter offering 4X4X6X performance, the maximum re-write and read speeds for the USB 1.1 interface. A FireWire adapter model will also be available in the first quarter of 2001 for $329.95, with USB 2.0 and PCMCIA adapters to follow later in the year. The drive comes with Adaptec Toast 4.1.1, MusicMatch Jukebox and MGI PhotoSuite software and works with the Power Mac G4 or G3 (blue and white G3 only) or any iMac with built-in USB connection..."
