Sega's answer about DC backups!

Tranlation from original Japanese text:

"...Sega's View on Reported Pirated Dreamcast Software

July 4, 2000
Sega Enterprises, Ltd.
Public Relations Department

The below is our company's official statement regarding pirated versions of Dreamcast software that is being discussed by parts of the media and some web sites.

"Sega has been aware of the existence of pirated versions of Dreamcast software since last week (late June), and it is also aware that some of these versions do not function correctly. Obviously, Sega does not take any responsibility at all for the pirated software or for problems such as hardware failures that may be caused by the use of such software.

Sega has already begun to analyze the possible methods that the people creating these pirated versions may be using, and it is working to devise possible countermeasures.

These pirated versions clearly violate intellectual property rights of Sega and other parties such as Dreamcast software licensees, and from here on we plan on taking firm measures (including legal action)to handle the situation."
