Cebit 2000 summary..

"..Regarding CDR-W, most of the talk was about speed, RAW, Combo's, and BURN-Proof. 8X-10x RW writing need new specs in Orange Book and will be added around May. You won't see anything on the market before then.

Who announced increased speed RW CDR-W Drive ? 8X, (Yamaha,LG, Acer, Plextor, in particular), and 10X (Ricoh, Teac). We'll probably see more in due course. However only the Yamaha drive was working at 8X RW on early media samples during the show. The new Plextor, Teac, and Philips drives seem likely to support RAW. Sanyo and Acer will also join by adding RAW.

On combo's, Samsumg introduced their own combo using an original pickup. Most other combo's are the result of partnerships between DVD makers and CDRW makers (such as Toshiba and Ricoh). Expect to see a one from LG soon.."
