Office For Mac 2016 Released

Microsoft had previously launched a preview of Office 2016 for Mac and now it has officially launched to the public today.

Office 2016 includes a new version of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It is available in 139 countries and 16 languages. The new version of Office for Mac includes support for Retina displays, the signature ribbon interface, task panes, cloud integration, Multi-Touch gestures and a Full Screen view mode.

Word 2016 has a new Design tab that lets you easily change the layouts, colors and fonts within your document. A collaboration feature allows you to work on the same document simultaneously with your colleagues.

Excel 2016 for Mac recommends charts that are best suited for your data as part of a new chart preview feature. It has autocomplete and formula builder improvements, which will save you time when creating spreadsheets or entering data. The software also features new PivotTable Slicers to help you filter large amounts of data.

PowerPoint 2016 for Mac has an improved Presenter View that shows you the current slide, next slide, speaker notes and a timer on your Mac screen. The audience will only see your current slide on the bigger screen, but the Presenter View will help you stay prepared as you give the presentation.

Outlook for Mac has several new mail-related features such as push mail support, an improved conversation view and a message preview feature. The conversation view automatically organizes your inbox around threaded conversations and the message preview feature shows you the first sentence of an e-mail below the subject line.

A new version of OneNote is also included in Office 2016 for Mac.

Office 2016 for Mac is available for Office 365 subscribers today, including Office 365 Home, Personal, Business, Business Premium, E3 or ProPlus users. The software works on Macs that run on OS X Yosemite. Starting in September, Office for Mac will also be available as a one-time purchase. Office 365 Personal costs $6.99 per month (or $69.99 per year) for one computer, one smartphone and one tablet per account.

Universall apps

Besides the official official release of Office 2016 for Mac, touch-optimized Office universal apps will also be generally available on July 29, the same launch day for Windows 10 for PCs and tablets.

Office universal apps - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote - will be made available for free on the Windows Store. Outlook Mail and Calendar are also universal apps, but they will come as part of Windows 10.

As shared by Microsoft in April, Office universal apps for Windows phones are also in the works.
