Uber And Spotify Bring Music for Your Ride

Confirming earlier reports, Uber today officially announced that its has joined forces with Spotify to enable you to remotely control the music that plays through your Uber's speakers.

You'll be able to connect your Spotify account from the Uber Profile screen. After requesting a ride in the Uber app, the app will get you matched with a music-enabled Uber and the music bar will appear at the bottom of the Uber app. By tapping the music bar you'll be able to choose a song from any of your Spotify playlists while you wait for your Uber to arrive. And your playlist will start when your ride begins.

Of course, the music streaming feature will work only if the Uber driver has a work phone plugged into the car's speakers, which means it may not be available in older vehicles that lack an auxiliary port.

The service will start this Friday, November 21 in ten cities across four continents: London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Nashville, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Stockholm, Sydney and Toronto. it will also roll out to more cities around the world in the coming weeks.

Music is available for Spotify Premium users. But Spotify to provide you with a free week of Premium starting from the end of the week.
