Samsung Puts LTE Into The Die Of New Exynos SoC, Cancells Tizen Smartphone Launch Event

Samsung Electronics has released the Exynos ModAP, a new quad-core Exynos chip with its name to denote its dual nature -- a LTE "modem" and an application processor (AP).

The quad-core Exynos ModAP is the first generation of integrated LTE Modem-AP solution with 4G LTE connectivity, built on 28nm HKMG Process. It supports various mobile network standards including LTE.

Furthermore, it offers advanced Image Signal processing (up to 8Mp 30 fps Image Signal Processor ), so any Exynos ModAP-powered devices with high resolution cameras can enjoy full capabilities like video recording in higher quality or playing back graphics in higher quality or format with no lag or buffering.

To be honest, today we expected Samsung to announce the new octacore Exynos 5433 chip. The Exynos 5433 is rumored to be powering at least some variants of the Galaxy Note 4, which will feature a QHD (2560x1440 pixel) display and most probably will be announce din September. The Exnos 5433 is expected to feature the same A7 LITTLE core, A15 big core layout as its predecessor.

The new chip is aimed at the budget to mid-end smartphone and tablet markets.

In related news, Samsung has postponed its Moscow launch event for its first Tizen smartphone, the Samsung Z, in yet another setback for Samsung?s homegrown alternative to Android.

Last month, at an event in San Francisco, Samsung said that the device, would go on sale in Russia in the third quarter of the year.

As the Wall Street Journal reports, Thursday?s official launch event was canceled. Samsung provided no concrete date for the rollout of the commercial version of the phone at the developer summit but said in a statement Thursday that "the smartphone will appear on the Russian market later, when we can offer our users a fullest portfolio of applications."
