New Galaxy S5 with LTE-A Capability Released In Korea

Samsung has released a new version of its flagship Galxy S5 smartphone, which sports a QHD display with a 2,560x1,440-pixel resolution and support 4G speeds of up to 225Mbps.

The LTE-A variant of the Galaxy S5, coming exclusively to S. Korea, has a 5.1-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a 577ppi -- slightly higher than the LG G3's 538ppi. It supports Korea's LTE-A band and features download speeds up to 225Mbps. The Galaxy S5 LTE-A also comes with Qualcomm's latest chipset, a quad-core Snapdragon 805.

Apart from these two changes, the new S5 runs Android 4.4 and sports a 16-megapixel rear camera. It does come with 3GB RAM, instead of 2GB.

The device is compatible with SK Telecom's new broadband LTE-Advanced service.

e LTE-A broadband service utilizes carrier aggregation (CA) technology, which combines 10 MHz and 20 MHz bands to achieve significantly higher transfer speeds.

LG and Pantech are also planning on unveiling new devices by early July.
