LG To Test Market Potential With New Premium TVs

LG Electronics plans to commecialize its curved ultra high-definition (UHD) TVs at the end of this month in time for the World Cup season, following curved organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TVs.

The Korean company has already commenced subscription sale for the 2014 models of curved OLED TV at a considerably lowered price and plans to follow the same subscription sales model its curved UHD TVs at the end of this month.

LG will release 55" and a 65" curved UHD TV model, priced at around KRW 4 million (55" -- $3904) and KRW 7 million (65" - $6832), respectively. The 55" curved OLED TV is significantly more expensive at KRW 5.99 million ($5846.2).

LG is also offering flat-screen UHD TVs in five models, 49", 55", 65", 79" and 84". The 55" UHD TV model will retail for KRW 3.9 million ($3806.4) and the 49" model for about KRW 2 million ($1952).

During the World Cup season, LG Electronics will also release three curved OLED TVs as well as curved UHD and flat-screen UHD TVs, in order to check the market potentials.
