Samsung Gear Glass And Galaxy S5 Prime Coming Soon

Samsung Electronics wil reportedly roll out a glass-type smart wearable device in September, while the company's premium Galaxy S5 Prime smartphone should be also expected sometime this fall.

Samsung's response to Google Glass will be equipped with the next-gen Tizen OS, according to a Business Korea report. Possibly dubbed 'Gear Glass', it combines an ear piece and display, enabling people to listen to music with the right ear while looking at the display with the right eye.

"Following the roll out of our smart watch Galaxy Gear in September last year, we are slated to introduce our smart glass Gear Glass this September," a Samsung associate said.

So Europe’s biggest electronics fair "IFA 2014" sounds like the perfect stage for the announcement.

Apple also recently got a patent on a Head-Mounted Display (HMD) touted as virtual reality goggles. It is a glass-type wearable device that can be usedby connecting it with other electronic devices such an iPod or Apple TV.

Microsoft has already developed "MS Glass" and LG Electronics is filing for a patent application on "G Glass."

Epson also unveiled its smart glass "MOVERIO BT-100" in the local market last March, and is to officially introduce it at the end of this month.

Sony, after introducing its "Smart Eyeglass" as a trial product at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, is planning to commercialize the product in time for the opening of the Brazil World Cup in June.

But Google is also expected to to roll out an enhanced version of its Google Glass, set for commercialization within the year.

Staying with Sasmsung, the South Koerean giant is teasing with the Galaxy S5 Prime, which may roll out just two months after the introduction of the Galaxy S5.

Although Samsung Mobile Business Chief Shin Jong-kyun said that the company will not release another premium model until this fall, mobile carriers are apparently getting ready for the sale of the handset. The new model was listed among the many devices supported by Olleh TV, an on-demand video service operated by KT, Korea’s second-largest mobile carrier.

The new handset is rumored to have a high-resolution QHD display, along with upgraded features used in the Galaxy S5, including tri-band Carrier Aggregation (CA).

Apple is scheduled to release its new iPhone in the latter half of this year, and LG already announced its intention to adopt the QHD display in the G3.
