ZTE Launches 4K p60 Ultra HD Set Top Box

ZTE has launched its 4K p60 Ultra HD set top box (STB), the ZXV10 B803, at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona.

The ZXV10 B803 is based on the Broadcom BCM 7252 chip and supports 4Kx2KP60 decoding capability, meaning it decodes Ultra HD video with the maximum resolution of 3840x2160.

4K video technology (also named as 2160p) is a new resolution standard. The UHDTV specification can deliver a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels, and the maximum Full Aperture 4K specification reaches the 4096x3112. 4K HD and HEVC decoding technologies will help raise the HD market tide. However, in the current market, 4K chips are mainly 4KP30.

Fang Hui, Deputy President of ZTE, said: "As a global leader in the IPTV market, ZTE offers a complete series of Internet STB products across the range of available resolutions, and is focusing strongly on the development of high-end STB products. This 4KP60 HD STB product will help build our presence in the high end market."

The ZTE ZXV10 B803 also supports H.265, the next generation super HD code transmission specification, which delivers encoded video using half the bandwidth of the previous generation (H.264), with the same quality.

The ZTE ZXV10 B803 uses a powerful CPU with a processing capability of 10k DMIPS (Dhrystone million instructions per second).
