OCZ To Sell Its PSU Business, Will Honor Warranties To Latest SSDs

Following the recent acquisition the bankrupted OCZ by Toshiba, the Japanese company will keep offering the full warranties for most of OCZ's SSDs, but the future of OCZ's PSU business remains uncertain.

According to OCZ's product warranty page and an AnandTech report, all OCZ's latest SSDs will be covered by warranty normally. However, all non-SSD products such as PSUs and DRAM will not be supported at all.

Through bankruptcy proceedings, Toshiba has acquired all the assets from OCZ Technology Group but most liabilities, including outstanding warranties, have been excluded from that acquisition. As a result, OCZ Storage Solutions will provide warranty support for the "OCZ Technology" SATA based Vector, Vertex Series SSDs, RevoDrive, RevoDrive 3/3X2 PCIe SSDs as well as any products launched by OCZ Storage Solutions on or after January 22nd, 2014. OCZ Storage Solutions will also provide warranty support for the "OCZ Technology" Agility SSD Series products that are still within a current warranty period until Jan 22, 2015.

OCZ Storage Solutions will not provide any warranty support for the following legacy and end of life products that were discontinued over the past year or prior: solid state drives from the following families, Core, Apex, Solid, Solid 2, Solid 3, Colossus, IBIS, Enyo, Nocti, Synapse, Octane S2, Octane S3, Onyx, Petrol, and RevoDrive Hybrid.

OCZ Storage Solutions will also not provide any warranty support for all discontinued non-SSD category products including DRAM memory, USB drives, Power Supplies, DIY notebooks and peripherals.

Regarding OCZ's PSU business, OCZ has a candidate buyer and will unveil more details in the next couple of weeks.
